CHARLES LINDBERGH: Jimmie Angel
provided flying lessons for Charles Lindbergh
in 1924 at the California Airfields near
Bakersfield. In exchange, Lindbergh,
following directions from Jimmie's wife,
balanced on the wings of Angels Curtiss JN4
Jenny biplane while Virginia negotiated the
opposite wing.

AMELIA EARHART: Having described her as
quiet, soft spoken and "very much a lady,"
Virginia Angel befriended Amelia Earhart and
shared experiences with her from 1924 to

IN 1927, a group representing Chicago
mobster, Al Capone, joined Angel and Al
Jennings in a search for Villas hidden loot
in Hidalgo del Parral, Mexico. Capone's
cronies included henchman, Jack Briggs,
and lifetime outlaw, Tex Catlin. In a crazy
procession of events, Catlin learned he,
too, was on the hit list, and he later joined
Angel and Jennings in a wild shootout in
the Sierra Madres.

The two years in Hollywood for Virginia and Jimmie Angel may
have been the most outrageous. Howard Hughes hired Jimmie
as a stunt pilot in Hell's Angels. While filming, Angel met the
Platinum Bombshell. Jean Harlow, who later seduced him and
ended up under the covers with the two-timing pilot. Famed
actor, Wallace Beery, also befriended the Angels during this
escapade.
